The face of a growing multicultural community in and around Humboldt has stimulated a new cultural venture for 2012. "Evenings of Cultural Mosaic" is a 10-week program at the Reid-Thompson Public Library that started January 9.

The umbrella is opening slowly for Arts Humboldt (AH), the fledgling association whose goal is to provide a collective voice for the arts in Humboldt. The association held its first annual general meeting on October 20, at the Uniplex in Humboldt.

There will be one more musical in Sutherland Theatre before it's torn down. The Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) drama club will be performing "A Christmas Carol" this winter as the theatre's last hurrah.

October is here, and that means the events we usually associate with the tenth month of the year - harvesting, Thanksgiving, Oktoberfest and Halloween - should be too. Normally, getting harvest completed makes farmers work up a great thirst.
