Police were called to a break-in at R & J’s Garden Restaurant in Battleford at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3.

The Macklin RCMP Detachment reports it has responded to numerous complaints of break and enters and property theft in the community over the last few weeks. Thieves are targeting unlocked vehicles, storage lots and units and travel trailers.

An official admits there is little chance of recovering all the remaining oil in the North Saskatchewan River.

WILKIE – July 24 at 2:27 a.m., Wilkie RCMP stopped a westbound vehicle for a speeding offence on Highway 14 east of Unity.

The results are in for the resort village elections in Cochin and Aquadeo. Both villages had contested elections for mayor and for council and results have been posted as follows: In Cochin, Harvey Walker takes over as mayor with a decisive victory.

Calico gave donors a sneak peak of their new building. On Jul. 26 Humboldt donors were invited to preview the 10,000 square feet, unfinished Calico building at their new location on 4th Ave. to get an update on the buildings progress.

Jul. 27, 1996 was a historic day for the Humboldt Uniplex. That was the day that the Humboldt Aquatic Centre opened its doors for the first time. The Centre celebrated this achievement with free swimming, a history display, and cupcakes on Jul. 27.

The city is working hard to fix the lagoon odour issue. The 2016 budget had money set aside to address the odour issue, including a lagoon assessment done by engineering firm, Catterall and Wright.

North Battleford city council has approved a three-pronged strategy to provide water to city residents in the wake of the Husky spill of 250,000 litres of oil into the North Saskatchewan River on July 21. The spill shut down the F.E.

Work to remove the old fountain in North Battleford’s Central Park and beautifying the area is scheduled to begin the first week of August. Fencing around the fountain area will be set up today, Aug. 2, with construction to begin on Aug. 3.
