As North Battleford residents surely noticed, there was not a lot of snow to shovel in January. In fact, because of the unseasonably warm temperatures, it seemed as if spring had come early.

Emergency personnel responded to a collision Tuesday at the intersection of 100th Street and 13th Avenue. According to the North Battleford Fire Department, it was a minor accident involving two small passenger cars and a half-ton truck.

Councillors were having a difficult time keeping a lid on their outrage at Monday night’s council meeting over the issue of passengers being left to stand in the cold while waiting for buses at the local bus station.

MEOTA — The Prairie Women on Snowmobiles enjoyed their morning coffee with Pearl’s homemade doughnuts, Feb. 6, in the Meota Community Complex. There were 10 ladies who were riders, along with their staff and crew of workers.

UNITY — By looking at her five-foot stature you wouldn’t expect the strength and power she possesses. However recent competition results demonstrate just how wrong that assumption is.

It has been estimated that one-third of Canada’s homeless are youth. On any given night 65,000 youth are without a place to call home. Crystal’s Home opened its doors in North Battleford in 2008.

Years of effort have come to fruition with the opening of a new 24-hour homeless shelter operated by the Lighthouse in North Battleford.
