MAIDSTONE — The Maidstone campaign to collect donations for the Canadian National Institute of the Blind is reporting a record year for fundraising in 2014. A total of $5,108 was raised for the CNIB in Maidstone district during a fall canvass.

Garbage fire extinguished

North Battleford Fire Department responded to a garbage fire in the rear compound of Peavy Mart Friday just before 11 p.m. Three firefighters spent about 10 minutes extinguishing a bag of garbage that was burning. No damage was reported.
