NORTH BATTLEFORD — An event celebrating and encouraging the single moms in the community is being organized by three churches in North Battleford.
Celebrate Single Moms is a free event for single moms (or grandmas) and their children to be held at the Living Faith Chapel.
Planning committee member Wendy Verity says there are many volunteers putting together the brunch — the day before Mother's Day. Expect a gourmet breakfast, specialty coffees, car detailing, express manicures, decorative sign-making and more. There will also be a chance to have family portraits taken and Mother's day giveaways.
If you want to attend, you have to register by May 1. You can go to their registration page on Facebook, but don't delay as, while there is room for 80 moms and 150 kids, many reservations have already been made.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their children as there will be childcare for ages 0-14. All of the children's volunteers have a criminal record check and adhere to Plan to Protect (Child Safety Policy).
Verity says it will be a great event for moms and kids, and, best of all, thanks to sponsors and volunteers, it's free.
The churches sponsoring the event are Living Faith Chapel, Territorial Drive Alliance Church and North Battleford Four Square Mission.
This is the second such event. The first was held in 2019 with the view to become an annual event, but COVID-19 restrictions prevented that from happening.
The event takes place Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to noon at Living Faith Chapel and attendees are asked to enter at the 102nd Street entrance.
