REGINA — Lawyers are expected to pack a Regina courtroom today to argue the constitutionality of a federally imposed carbon tax.

CARROT RIVER — A small amount of cash was stolen from a truck parked in Carrot River. Between 6 pm Jan. 8 and 6 am Jan. 7, a white, 2005 GMC pickup truck parked on 3rd Street West was broken into.

MELFORT — The City of Melfort is dividing its community services department into two One part will be the protective services department, which will be headed by Jason Everitt, chief of the Melfort Fire Department.

HUMBOLDT — A property on 2nd Street north of Futuristic Industries has been approved for a new church. Council voted to grant a discretionary use application for the site to the Harvest International Christian Church of Canada at its Feb. 11 meeting.

MELFORT — The total property tax levy will increase in Melfort by 2.09 per cent. The increase was a part of the budget that passed Melfort council on Feb. 11.

It took a few meetings, but a new North Battleford city council remuneration policy has been approved. The final formula was settled Monday night.
