Two Northwest skating clubs are participating in this year's SaskEnergy Great Family Skate Day.

The 15th Annual Blaine Lake Farmers' Spiel is scheduled to begin Feb. 21. There still may be time to register a rink to qualify at a chance for the many prizes available. Contact the Blaine Lake Community Association office at 497-2222.

It is an exciting time to live in Humboldt. According to the 2011 Federal Census, Humboldt is the second fastest growing city in Saskatchewan after Martensville and Warman. The city has grown from 4,998 people to 5,678 since the 2006 census - a 13.

There were flowers back in Maidstone just in time for Valentine's Day. Desirae Blanchette purchased the former flower and gift shop on Main Street in September and spent four months working hard to completely renovate the building.

Progress continues on the CUPlex site as more items continue to be put in place each week at the facility.

About 200 hepcats, young and old, converged on Hafford Communiplex Feb. 11. The evening was busy with the sounds big band era swing. The dance went from 8 p.m. to midnight. The evening was held to raise money for Ukrainian National Hall upgrades.

Cree River Development Trading Post in Blaine Lake held its official grand opening Feb. 11 with many family, friends, community members and dignitaries in attendance.

The Blaine Lake Community Association hosted its annual grandma and grandpa bonspiel Feb. 12. Six rinks registered representing participants from Shell Lake, Leask, Marcelin and Blaine Lake.
