New Horizons held theirgolf tournament Sept. 22 as 29 members participated during a beautiful, warm day. Taking first place Monday was the threesome of John Chomyn, Hank Nickel and Brian Erickson.

The Battlefords North Stars' comeback attempt fell short Saturday night in Kindersley. Trailing 3-0 in the second period, the North Stars rallied to tie the game behind Reed Delainey's three-point night before falling 4-3 in overtime to the Klippers.

The Battlefords AAA Stars closed out their home pre-season schedule with a 3-1 win over the Saskatoon Contacts Saturday afternoon at the Civic Centre. Brandon Lesko and Layne Young each had a goal and an assist in the Stars' win.

The North Battleford Comprehensive High School Senior Vikings' offence struggled Thursday night as they were shutout 43-0 by the Bishop James Mahoney Saints at Beaver Lions Stadium. Save for a couple of plays, the offence had trouble moving the ball.

The Saskatoon Blazers scored four straight goals en route to a 5-3 win over the Battlefords AAA Stars at the Civic Centre Wednesday night in SMAAAHL pre-season action. It was the Stars' first loss of their exhibition schedule.

Normally a private person, Jeff Bridgeman is more interested in his training than his public relations work. The training was for the World Triathlon event in Edmonton Bridgeman competed in last August.

It's a new look all-around for the Battlefords North Stars heading into the 2014-15 season.
