On a beautiful, sunny day Monday, 27 golfers came out for New Horizons after being rained out Sept. 8. John Chomyn, Hank Nickel, Allie Raycraft and Dave Page finished first with a 1-over 37.

The John Paul II Crusaders opened their football regular season in Warman Friday night. The game did not get off to a great start for the Crusaders as Warman scored on four of their first five possessions.

Battlefords forward Braydon Buziak picked up a hat trick as the Stars routed the Contacts 9-1 Saturday afternoon in Saskatoon in SMAAAHL exhibition action. The Stars used their special teams to pull away from the Contacts in the game.

One of the beautiful things about football is with playing only one game per week, the anticipation building up to each game can be spine-tingling.

The Agriplex hosted three roller derby bouts Saturday evening as the BRDL's Rubby Rollers played their final home bouts of the season. In the first bout, Saskatoon's Voodoo Vixens needed extra time to beat the Rubby Rollers 107-87.

Brenden Heinrich scored twice as the Battlefords North Stars shut out the Broncos 5-0 Wednesday night in Humboldt. It was the North Stars' final exhibition game of the year. They finished 3-1 in their pre-season schedule.

The Rustic Nine Golf Course had its second hole in one of the 2014 season. Keanu Foulds from North Battleford got his first hole in one on Sept. 5 on hole No. 5.

The Wilkie Outlaws will call a new league home for the upcoming 2014-15 hockey season. The Outlaws are leaving the NSRHL as the two-time defending champions to join the Sask West Hockey League.

The Battlefords AAA Sharks travelled to Edmonton last weekend to compete in the NAIT Ooks Women's Hockey 2014 Blue-Gold Tournament. In their first game Friday afternoon, the Sharks fell 4-0 to the St. Albert Slash.

Dawson Bacon had a goal and two assist to spark the Battlefords AAA Stars to a 4-1 exhibition road win over the Beardy's Blackhawks. The Stars struck first with 9:00 to play in the first period.
