Some may have been tuned into their favourite sport on TSN recently and recognized a familiar name. Shayne Morrissey, who played with the Battlefords North Stars for the first half of the 2010-11 season is on a commercial running in August on TSN.

The end of the horseshoe season will soon be here, but until then, local pitchers continue to hit their mark. The local club hosted an annual horseshoe tournament during Northwest Territorial. Taking first place was Vern Bannerman.

This year, the Humboldt Dodgers had one of the best experiences a team could ever have. It had already been quite a season for the 16-18-year-old AAA Midget players who won the provincial title in July.

As Lorne Harasen said on behalf of the 2011 inductees in his reply speech, "the heart and soul of baseball is in the rural communities.

The North Battleford Touch Football League has had some good weather to start the season and four of the teams are thriving with the conditions. Four teams are preached perfectly at 3-0, while the remaining four teams are 0-3.

It wasn't exactly the camp the coaching staff was hoping to have, as the Battlefords Midget AAA Sharks looked to put the struggles of the 2010-11 season behind them and start fresh with the 2011-12 training camp.

Courtney Laycook has taken the next step in her hockey career, as she graduates from the Sharks and has committed to the Rainy River Community College women's hockey program.

The first week of the North Battleford Touch Football League is complete and four teams are tied for first place while four are tied for fifth place. The same four teams that won on Aug. 16 won again on Thursday against different opponents.

The Kindersley Klippers Baseball Team was formed around the late 1950s, competing in tournament baseball including the Saskatoon Exhibition winning that tournament three times, usually meeting the Delisle team in the finals.

As the individuals, teams, family and community are inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum it will be a special time for many to see their baseball heroes, teammates, friends and family honoured.
