The anticipation is over and now all that is left is to start the regular Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season.

The Humboldt Broncos traditionally use the games of the pre-season to throw different players out on the ice and see how they perform. And this year was no different from any other.

Tuesday, at Beaver Lions Stadium the Huskies doubled the Headhunters with a 28-14 win in the game under the lights. Earlier, the Broncos topped the Silver Bullets 38-20 and the Gophers thumped the Razorbacks 57-7.

It's a great honour. Isidore Strueby of Humboldt is one of the six individuals and one team in the community inducted into the Humboldt Sports Hall of Fame. "It was a kind of a shock when the letter came and I learned I was inducted," said Strueby.

You could say if there weren't any penalties called Tuesday night in the game between the Battlefords Midget Stars and Beardy's Blackhawks it would have been much less exciting.

The result may have already been know heading into the John Paul II Crusaders second game of the season, as they took on Delisle, but how many people expected the game to end 74-0.

The Battlefords North Stars have dwindled down the roster and Thursday morning it will be officially announced.

Some roster moves still remain to be made for the Battlefords Midget Stars, but after their first two games of the pre-season there appears to be some new optimism for the hockey team. The Stars were in Saskatoon Thursday to play the Blazers.

Thursday, the Rhinos made a statement that they want to be at the top of the North Battleford Tough Football League standings with a 43-6 win over the Razorbacks.

The North Battleford Golf and County Club held its annual club championship on the weekend, as Brett Harrison and Deanna Klusa tried to hold off the competition and repeat as champions.
