The voice in the back of our heads to get outside and get more active is louder than ever and soon there could be a new way to listen to that voice.

Rick Morrice was born March 3, 1951 in Eston where he attended school and played all his minor sports. At 16, Morrice was asked to go with the Eston Ramblers to represent Saskatchewan at the first Canadian Summer Games in Halifax.

Three of the four semi final teams were known as of Thursday last week in the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League.

The Wilkie Athletics, with players from the Battlefords, Wilkie and Unity hosted the midget AA provincials last weekend in North Battleford after playing the regular season as the name Unity Midgets.

Anton Belous was born Jan 17, 1904 and was a typical farm boy growing up. The son of Russian immigrants, he had come to find a land of peace and freedom. He came from a family of 12 children and loved his God, and loved his baseball.

The annual Battlefords Sailing club regatta took place in front of the clubhouse at Meota on the weekend, and although the number of boats was lower than expected, it was still a great weekend of sailing.

Many in Saskatchewan, and Northwest Saskatchewan for that matter, can't get enough curling. What better way to get your curling fix in July than entering the annual Livelong Summerspiel.

Saskatchewan will participate in 19 sports against teams from across Western Canada and among those elite athletes, some Northwest competitors will be in action. Team Sask will compete with Team B.C.

The Saskatchewan provincial golf season is in full swing and the golfers on the course competing at provincials this week were the seniors.

The weekend started out under grey and damp skies, but the sun came out to brighten the Bruno Merchants' day on Sunday. The 2011 Softball Saskatchewan Senior B Men's Provincial Championship was held in Saskatoon July 22-24 with nine teams competing.
