The Battlefords North Stars looked to get in the win column, as they hosted Weyburn Friday and were in Kindersley Saturday, but ynfortunately they are still winless in the 2010-11 season.

They started the scoring early and just didn't quit. In the Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) Mohawks football team's first home action of the season, they gave the ball to the LP Miller Bears of Nipawin on the opening kick-off.

The North Battleford Comprehensive High School Junior Vikings football team made the most of their one home game this season, as they squeaked out a 14-6 win.

The players are on the ice and the crop is off. One of the Battlefords North Stars major fundraising projects came to an end for the year, albeit, behind the expected schedule, the crop for the Battlefords North Stars Ag.

It's volleyball season in the region and Maidstone was once again the hub of activity. Sr. Mega-Volley, the massive volleyball tournament hosted by Maidstone High School every September began Thursday and finished up at 11:28 p.m. Saturday night.

Thursday marked the final night of the regular season schedule for the North Battleford Men's Touch Football League and six of the eight teams were in action. Last week, teams were trying to solidify their spots in the standings.

Ground and pound is common football strategy and the North Battleford Comprehensive High School Junior Vikings used the strategy to perfection against Prince Albert Carlton.

It took five games, but Battlefords hockey fans finally witnessed a regular season win at the Civic Centre.

Tuesday marked the beginning of the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League and the Battleford AAA Sharks made the short trip to Saskatoon to start the season. They started the season, but weren't necessarily ready, as they lost 11-0.

The Humboldt Broncos are two for two after the first games of regular season play, held September 17 and 18.
