Dear Editor I was disheartened to read the recent letter by Dana Alexander, laying out the City of North Battlefords' concerted plan to put the Battlefords Agricultural Society out of business.

There's a classic psychology experiment that goes something like this. The subject is shown a video that shows two teams of people passing a ball around in a circle, and asked to count the number of passes made by one of the teams.

The moon is full as the month begins, ending in full phase again - two full moons in one month. Aug.11, the moon occults (passes in front of) Jupiter for viewers in the western Pacific; it's a close conjunction for others.

Dear Editor I read with disbelief the letter to the editor from the Battlefords Agricultural Society in the July 18 edition of the News-Optimist.

Dear Editor My son was the 16-year-old from North Battleford who was bear sprayed and beaten. He had life-threatening injuries.He was beaten nearly to death by three boys.

You have to hand it to B.C. Premier Christy Clark. It takes a lot of balls to do what she did just prior to last week's provincial premier's conference, and then throughout the meeting.

Ed, my neighbour next door, believes gardening is for the birds. I told him it really is, in my yard. First, the birds sampled my strawberries to the count of about every other strawberry. They seemed determined to taste test every second berry.

I hear it every day. The guy who does 300 crunches to flatten his stomach. A woman who wants me to show her exercises to get rid of excess fat on her buttocks and thighs.

We want to give a thanks to two local SaskPower workers who went above and beyond the call of duty on the evening of June 27. Monday, June 25, like thousands of others in our area, we lost power due to a massive storm that blew through.

I can't imagine having any other job than the one I have. Although, like anything else, it has its challenges and stresses, being a writer is my idea of the ideal career.
