Here I am with another box office update in the wake of the release of the latest blockbuster of the summer, The Amazing Spider-Man. The movie opened July 3 in theatres across North America, following an impressive weekend debut in overseas markets.

Dear Editor This is in response to "Doing business downtown turns scary for one resident" (Regional Optimist July 6). The article states " vagrancy, pawn shops and empty storefronts have been a problem for a while " This view is narrow-minded.

Dear Editor I was admitted on the evening of March 6 to Battlefords Union Hospital emergency. After a CT scan, it was determined I had suffered a mild stroke. There were no beds, so I was kept overnight in the ER.

More than a few members of Saskatchewan's population will be moving south this week, heading to Craven for the Craven Country Jamboree, a days-long country music festival.

Our Prime Minister has aspirations to be President of Canada, maybe even a knighthood thrown in for good measure, as in, Sir Stephen Joseph Harper.

Dear Editor I read the article about the swim club's rent being increased 10 times the current amount. This is incredible. Many people in the Battlefords have worked hard to raise money to build the CUPlex.

Canadians celebrated our 145th birthday this week and I grow more patriotic each year, in a subdued Canuck sort of way, of course.
