The Melfort Mustangs know their playoff fate. The Mustangs’ chase for a division title officially ended Feb. 27 when the Nipawin Hawks beat the Kindersley Klippers 4-1, clinching the Sherwood division title for the Hawks.

For the first time in 17 years, the Nipawin Hawks are division champions. The Hawks put the finishing touches on their first division title since 1999-2000 with a 4-1 win over the Kindersley Klippers at home.

A process to expand Gronlid Central School’s catchment area east has begun. The expansion uses the Carrot River as its south boundary all the way to Highway #35, missing Armley and Ridgedale.

Marijuana may not be legal yet, but the Town of Carrot River is already looking at a bylaw to regulate its use in its public spaces. Over the next month, the town will be developing a marijuana, vaping and smoking bylaw.

An application to build a new dressing room for the Carrot River Outback Thunder connected to the arena has been denied. Carrot River council unanimously voted to deny the application at its Feb. 21 meeting. Coun.

A Tisdale athlete earned a silver medal Saskatchewan Winter Games. Viktor Shramko got a silver in Class 2 male free skate figure skating. Amy Svenson placed 11th in Class 3 female free skate.

Rodeo, pool, shouldn’t be affected by construction

Sherry Anderson’s victory in Tisdale was very much a repeat of her victory in Melfort.

Team McKee built on the strong showing they had during the round robin portion of the Affinity Senior Curling Provincials and won the championship against Team Schick.
