Update: No injuries reported in multi-vehicle collision on Hwy 39

Update: ESTEVAN -- No one was injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 39 Friday morning.

Estevan RCMP responded to the scene north of Hitchcock at approximately 10:45 a.m.

Investigation determined an SUV collided with a pickup truck towing a trailer. A car attempted to avoid the collision and went into the ditch. 

No injuries were reported to police, said RCMP.

The driver of the SUV was ticketed for driving at a speed greater than is reasonable and safe.

Original report:

A multi-vehicle collision on Highway 39 west of Hitchcock was reported by a Facebook user at around 10.50 a.m. on Friday.

The post was made on SE Sask Road Conditions II Facebook private group.

"Everyone seems ok but debris all over the road," wrote Amanda Mack in her original post just before 11 a.m. "No police/ambulance there yet. Slow down, pure ice at that curve."

About 10 minutes later, another user posted a comment saying there was a fire truck heading that way.

No further information about the accident was immediately available.

Highway Hotline reports that winter conditions exist on Highway 39 from Estevan to Midale as of 10 a.m. There are icy or slippery sections, packed snow and ice cover. The visibility is good.
