ESTEVAN — The Estevan Fire Rescue Service was called to a report of a yard fire.

The fire occurred on a property north of Hitchcock on April 25. The flames migrated and the fire spread into a field by the yard due to strong winds. It took firefighters about four hours to contain and then extinguish the fire, according to Estevan Deputy Fire Chief Kyle Luc.

No injuries were reported from the incident, and Luc couldn't comment on any resulting damage from the fire.

The cause of the fire was unknown as of April 29.

On April 26, fire crews were called to provide lift assists for EMS crews on two separate occasions.

Firefighters were also dispatched to a residential fire alarm in Bienfait on April 28. Before crews even left the station, it was confirmed that the alarm was false, and members stood down.
