Children's Ball

The Assiniboia Kinettes hosted the fourth annual Children’s Fantasy Ball on March 11, 2018. This year’s theme was Superheroes. The children — dressed as superhero characters, dinosaurs or princesses — a circuit of activities to complete as part of their “Superhero Training”. After completing all the activities, the children received little prizes and had their name entered for a door prize. The Kinettes catered the event with kid-friendly snacks, including pizza, a candy bar and a cupcake tower.

The event chairperson, Justine Bamford, felt that the event was a success, stating, “the kids and parents enjoyed themselves — we saw lots of smiles throughout the afternoon.”

Activity leaders, including the Assiniboia Kinettes, student volunteers and members of the Assiniboia Volunteer Fire Department, manned each of the stations to guide the children through each activity. “It was great to see the real superheroes of our community helping at the event,” said Bamford. There was a visit from the Sergeant of the Assiniboia RCMP detachment who walked around visiting with the children for a while.

Without the support of the community of Assiniboia, including the fire department, RCMP, Southern Cruisers and Southland Coop to name a few, who made donations of time, money or prize items, this type of event would not be possible. “It gives us a great sense of pride when we see the community pull together like that to give the kids a fun afternoon,” said club President Lisa Martin.

The Kinettes hope to continue to host this wonderful event in the future with the continued support of the community. For more information about the Assiniboia Kinettes, please visit their website at www.assiniboiakinettes.com.
