Summer Reading

The Assiniboia and District Public Library started up its children’s summer reading programs. The TD Summer Reading Club Summer Fun Time at the Library began on July 6 and it runs Thursdays until August 24. The program facilitator is Amanda Franks. One session for children readers runs at 1 p.m. The second session for pre-readers goes at 2 p.m. Children will be entertained by stories, crafts, games and other activities.

The TD Summer Reading Club is sponsored by TD bank and is Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for children of all ages, interests and abilities. It is a free program offered at 2,000 public libraries across Canada, including in Assiniboia. The Club celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories, and inspires children to explore the fun of reading in their own way. The program hopes to spark a lifelong love of reading.
