Assiniboia Council receives resignation of operations manager

ASSINIBOIA - The Assiniboia Town Council held a meeting on March 8. In attendance were: Kent Fettes, in the role of deputy mayor as Mayor Sharon Schauenberg was not at the meeting; Clint Mauthe, Kerri Martin and Coun. Peter Kordus, Graham Harvey, Patrick Grondin, and Robert Ellert.

There was public acknowledgements given to Assiniboia Times for attending the meeting.

The agenda was adopted by Ellert and Kordus, with an addition of three items. The minutes of the Feb. 22 meeting were accepted and approved by Harvey/Kordus.

Council had correspondence received from the water quality report, the annual notice to consumers from the drinking water quality and compliance committee, the Moose Jaw Chamber program expansion to Assiniboia, and information on the 2022 SAMA annual meeting, to be held April 3 to 6.

The CAO reported a very busy couple of months ahead. He has attended several meetings including one with minister of rural health regarding our local hospital. There was a list of paid accounts presented and reports were accepted as read.

In new business, there was a request for information on uncollectable roll to taxes and the water account.  Motion passed  by Grondin/Harvey.

Councillor Kent Fettes will be the council rep for the local Fire Department and the Rural Fire Protection group. Motion passed Ellert/Kordus.

Administrator is in receipt of resignation of Nick Zuck as operations manager effective immediately. This position will be advertised immediately for a new candidate.  Motion passed Ellert/Kordus.

Administrator is in receipt of resignation of Councillor Paul Tendler effective immediately. This position will be advertised in the near future. Motion passed Harvey/Kordus.

The next meeting of Town Council will be held on Monday, March 22.
