Cenovus Energy Inc. has recognized four contractors for outstanding safety performance at the company's Weyburn operations.

Weatherford Canada, D&R Consulting and Oilfield Supervision, Carson Energy Services and Precision Drilling's Rig 275 have all received the Cenovus Environment, Healthy and Safety (EH&S) Recognition Award for their leadership in safety and environmental stewardship, ethical business conduct and community responsibility.

"Working at Cenovus means working safely and the companies we've recognized today have gone above and beyond," said Darcy Cretin, Operations Superintendent at Weyburn. "Cenovus is lucky to work with great companies that help us not only promote safety issues in the workplace, but find ways to get better, every day."

Cenovus staff members nominate companies and winners are chosen by a selection committee appointed by the Cenovus EH&S team. The selection committee looks for evidence that the contractor has demonstrated leadership by finding innovative ways to promote safety in the workplace, working collaboratively to integrate safety into the planning process, and placing a high personal value on safety.

"The Cenovus EH&S Recognition Award is just one way Cenovus shows our appreciation for a commitment to safety," said Cretin. "Cenovus puts a lot of emphasis on ensuring the work we do is done in a safe and responsible way, and when we have the opportunity to work with companies that share the same values, we can achieve great things."

Winners receive a plaque and a donation to their charity of choice. The Family Place, Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation, Hospitals of Regina Foundation and Glenavon Lions Club Park will all be receiving a $5,000 donation from Cenovus as part of the award.
