City of Weyburn to consolidate lots to correct 1964 mistake

Weyburn city council approved a transfer of a lot to a residential owner, Jordan Chuckry, to correct a “skewed” mistake made in 1964.

The City of Weyburn council approved transferring the title of a property to Jordan Chuckry, as long as he bears the costs of consolidating the property with his own lot.

WEYBURN – Weyburn city council approved a transfer of a lot to a residential owner, Jordan Chuckry, to correct a “skewed” mistake made in 1964 with the locating of a garage partially on city property.

City administration reviewed a building permit from July of 1964 to Roy Chuckry to build a garage on the lot, and found the garage had been built partially on a city-owned lot, and partially on a lot owned by Jordan Chuckry.

Administration recommended that the lot owned by the city be transferred to Chuckry, and that he should bear all costs associated with the title transfer and consolidation with his lot.

He will need to provide the City with an executed copy of the title transfer, and any improvements or infrastructure needed, including services or utilities, will be at Chuckry’s cost.

• In other council business, council approved the second and third reading of an amendment to the zoning bylaw and Official Community Plan, to rezone land for an industrial shop for Ryan Bousfield on Regina Avenue.

Two letters of objection were received by council, expressing concerns about safety and the devaluation of property, but Coun. Mel Van Betuw noted they have policies in place to address any of the concerns expressed by the two neighbouring residents.

“We as council are aware of those concerns. There is an industrial property located right across the street, plus the city has policies in place to deal with all of these concerns,” said Coun. Van Betuw.
