The Weyburn Police Service received 87 calls for assistance in the week of Jan. 9-16, including calls about fraud, an alleged abduction and a missing person who was located. City police are investigating a complaint of fraud from a local business.

City police are investigating a complaint of fraud from a local business. A person passed an NSF cheque, and received property with a value over $5,000.
The city police were contacted by the Moose Jaw Police Service on Jan. 16 for help in locating a woman from Moose Jaw who may have been abducted by people from Weyburn. Police located the woman, and found she was in the company of the Weyburn residents of her own free will.
The Weyburn Group Home contacted the city police about a missing resident; police were able to safely locate the resident walking on Fifth Avenue North. The person had become lost while walking home.
Police received a complaint of a mischief to a motor vehicle on Confederation Drive, and the investigation is ongoing.
On Jan. 11, the city police assisted the RCMP with a traffic pursuit, as the RCMP chased a vehicle into the city limits. When the vehicle got near the museum, the driver took off on foot, and police were able to locate the driver on South Hill. The driver, a 26-year-old Regina man, faces numerous charges and will appear in court later this month.
With the amount of snow that has fallen in the last week, there have been many accidents around the city. Police remind drivers to use extra caution while driving, to be alert when near city crews cleaning streets and not to put snow from their property onto city streets.
