Estevan police received 50 calls for service over the weekend.

A number of the calls were storm-related matters, with some where vehicles were abandoned and other in relation to snow removal or non-removal.

On March 13, police also received a report of a driver failing to remain at the scene of an accident. Members were able to identify a suspect and attended to find the individual’s vehicle at home with consistent damage. The driver was charged with failing to report an accident and released for court.

Police also received a report of a disturbance in the Pleasantdale area of the city. Members obtained a statement on assault and a counter statement of mischief from the other party involved. The matter is still under investigation.

Police received a report of an elderly individual being defrauded money. The individual had purchased Amazon gift cards and gave information to the fraudster to give them authorization to use the cards. The matter is still under investigation. EPS remind the public that if someone is getting you to pay for something with Amazon, Apple or other gift cards, don’t give them information and to report it to police.

Members also attended to a disturbance in the south end of the city. Police mediated and returned later in the day to keep the peace while a party removed property from the residence.
