Estevan police called to theft from a local business

Police responded to a number of calls on June 2.

ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service are investigating a theft that occurred at a local business.

Police received a report June 2 of the incident. Surveillance video was provided to members and the suspect was identified.

Also that day, a report was received of two people yelling at each other in the Pleasantdale area. Members attended and spoke with the complainant. A verbal disagreement had taken place, but both parties had gone their separate ways. No further issues were reported.

A possible impaired driver was reported. The vehicle was driving erratically on Fourth Street. The caller had lost track of the offending vehicle and officers couldn’t locate it.

Members are investigating an incident in which a vehicle almost struck a pedestrian while crossing the street at a crosswalk. The matter is under investigation.

Police received several calls regarding broken tree branches and storm drains that were flooded following a storm. City of Estevan public works employees were contacted and they were out to clean up the community. A brief but powerful storm Friday brought heavy rains and wind gusts that exceeded 90 kilometres per hour.

An individual was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place, theft under $5,000 and resisting arrest. He was released with a future court date.

Another individual was arrested for breaching the conditions of his release documents. He will have a future court date.

A 72-hour driver’s licence suspension was issued to an individual and his vehicle was impounded for three days after he failed a roadside screening device test for drugs.

Members attended a central Estevan residence on May 30 on the report of a domestic disturbance. The matter was defused upon police arrival and one of the occupants agreed to spend the night at a friend’s residence.

Members attended to a north Estevan apartment as a result of a 911 call where there was a domestic dispute in progress. Upon arrival, subjects were not found to be in distress and there was no evidence of a domestic issue. One individual, who was intoxicated, was warned of the misuse of 911. No further issues were reported.
