Carlyle District Lions are very excited! 2013 is the year the club celebrates its 50th Anniversary.
Preliminary plans are underway for a celebration in November, the month of the original charter.
It is the hope and the plan that by the time we gather with the community to celebrate we will have had a very successful Supper and Auction and we will be able to add up Lions donations over 2013 to reach a grand total of $50,000 in our 50th year.
It has been a concern of the club lately that we might be missing groups and projects that benefit the area simply because we do not know about them. Each year we are the ones trying to figure out who might need our help. We have made the decision to change our approach. We want you and your groups to tell us what you need - what project you want to complete and what assistance you think you need to reach your goal.
We are developing a sort of 'application form' that we will respectfully ask to be completed and submitted. We have the most resources following the supper and auction so that is a logical time to apply but applications will be accepted at any time. Please be aware that making an application does not guarantee you will receive even any of what you ask. Each request will be assessed on its own merits and amounts will be determined based on the funds the club has available at the time, the number and quality of requests we get, whether or not the club has made any pledges to specific projects that need to be met and whatever other criteria are available at decision time.
So if you are a group or individual that is active in making the communities of the Carlyle District (since we are the Carlyle District Lions Club) a better place for all to live, work and play, ask a Lion about our new program to share with the community through assisting others AND watch for plans of our Anniversary celebration!
