Residents are encouraged to discover the "Power of Laughter" and mark Women's Health Month in October.

The "Power of Laughter" session will be held in the Weyburn Credit Union community room on Tuesday, Sept. 28 from 7 to 8 p.m. Cancer survivor Susan Addersley will share the importance of laughter, and teach different ways of removing stress.

Then during the month of October, residents are encouraged to have "Girls Night In" events, to help fund information and support services for women living with cancer.

The goal of the "Girls Night In" is to encourage spending time together with creative activities, instead of spending money on restaurants, shopping or by going to the movies. "These events can be fun fundraisers for the Canadian Cancer Society," said Caroline Gillies, organizer.

The Southeast Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society hopes to hold their own fashion show during October. More details will be released when available.
