Weyburn Legion presents service awards, certificates

The Weyburn branch of the Royal Canadian Legion presented their service awards and certificates of appreciation on Monday evening in the Legion auditorium.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn branch of the Royal Canadian Legion presented their service awards and certificates of appreciation on Monday evening in the Legion auditorium.

The ceremonies were emceed by first vice-president Jerry Ponto, along with the sergeant-at-arms Owen White.

The service awards ranged from 15 years up to 50 years of service.

For 15 years of service, the recipients are Patrick Elkington, Leslie Tilsley and Sharon Saunders. For 20 years, the recipients are Ken Kot, Gerald St. Hilaire, Dyana Wright, Robert Milligan and Grant Vermeulen.

The 25-year pin recipients were Richard MacKenzie, chaplain Marjorie McLeod and David Ross. The 30-year pin recipients were Leo Bauer, Marjorie Kuhn, Rod Stafford, Grant Varley, Bev Kuhn, Myrna MacKinnon and Fred Trofimenkoff.

Receiving the 35-year pins were Phil Babiarz, Wayne Hein, Janet Beck-Trofimenkoff and Harold Whiteoak.

The 40-year pin recipients were Richard Fornwald, Fern Kessler, Bonnie Lillejord, Allan Potyra, Joan Gregory, Richard Klein, Michael Moser, Raymond Roberts, William Ward, and Gloria Scaddan (posthumously).

The 45-year pin recipients were Murray Goeres, Jim Liggett, Brad Irwin and Garth White.

The 50-year pin recipients were Larry Eskdale, Willard Marr, Lana Tosczak, Ormond Wedin, Harold Kilback, Donald Schmidt and Mel Van De Sype.

Certificates of appreciation were given to Corey Morrissette of Access Communications; Marnie Gruber of Bandits Distilling; MLA Dustin Duncan; board members Val Lund and Connie Fowler; Prairie Lightning Electric; Mike Guest of Western Prime Meat Processors; and the Weyburn Red Wings, represented by coach Cody Mapes.
