The 10th Annual JAMS Family Christmas Day Dinner hosted a Christmas feast for 140 people who would otherwise have spent Christmas Day alone.
Sandy Johnson and her volunteers fed 125 individuals at Knox Hall and delivered to 15 shut-ins in the community. Although this dinner is free to anyone who can't afford to pay, Johnson said the dinner raised $2,231 dollars for the Weyburn Humane Society's "Raise the Woof" campaign.
"It's great to see that the real meaning of the event is starting to catch on-that no one should spend Christmas Day alone," said Johnson.
To celebrate their 10th Anniversary special music was provided by the Greening family of Weyburn. April Sampson also played piano for the group to sing Christmas carols.
"It's always fun to watch April on the piano, she plays with such enthusiasm," said Johnson, adding Sampson was her Grade 1 teacher which made her attendance even more special.
Next year the JAMS family intends to donate the proceeds of their dinner back to the Knox Hall as a token of appreciation for the generosity shown to them for eight of the 10 dinners.
