Jerry Mainil Ltd. donates to the Weyburn Salvation Army

The staff and management of Jerry Mainil Ltd. donated $4,500 to the Salvation Army's food bank.

WEYBURN – Shannon Fodchuk and Cassy Baumgartner, both of the Weyburn Salvation Army, accepted a donation of $4,500 from Rosalynn Meyer, safety and HR supervisor, on behalf of the staff and management of Jerry Mainil Ltd. on Friday morning.

The company had bought some items from the Young Fellows silent auction earlier this year, and those items were raffled off at the staff Christmas party, raising about $2,205, and Mainils then matched that amount to bring it up to $4,500.

The funds will be used for the food bank and wherever it’s needed with their programs, such as Christmas hampers and the Adopt-a-Family program.

The Salvation Army were also the beneficiaries of the “Blow Away Hunger” campaign at Great Plains Ford, where the back of a pickup truck in the showroom was filled with food donations for the food bank.

In addition, the Holiday Smile Cookies campaign is ongoing at Tim Horton’s until Sunday, Dec. 11, with the proceeds going to the Salvation Army.
