Police deal with inappropriate behaviour and solicitations

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of July 4 to 11: *At approximately 9 a.m. on July 9, police received a report of a missing 6-year-old child. The youngster was located a short time later by a family member. *Around 5:30 p.m.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of July 4 to 11:

*At approximately 9 a.m. on July 9, police received a report of a missing 6-year-old child. The youngster was located a short time later by a family member.

*Around 5:30 p.m., police attended to a report of an individual who is alleged to have committed an indecent act by exposing himself. The matter is still being investigated.

*Police received a report of a local person being solicited for sex. The individuals were known to each other and the incident is still under investigation.

*Police responded to a hit and run accident. Information was submitted for insurance purposes however, the incident remains unsolved.

*Police attended an accident on Souris Avenue around noon on the 9th. There were no injuries despite a vehicle having to be towed from the scene.

*Police were called to Jubilee Park for a noise complaint. The group responsible for the noise was removed from the park as a result.

*A number of vehicles were reported to be damaged in a residential area. No suspects were located and the matter is still under investigation.

*Just before midnight, police attended a local bar to deal with an individual suffering from adverse affects of drug and alcohol abuse. The individual was transported to hospital for medical assistance.

*Just after midnight on July 8, police responded to a fight in progress at a local bar. The individuals were dispersed upon police arrival. No charges were laid as the combatants were not identified by witnesses.

*On July 7, police responded to a report of a hit and run in a residential area. The driver of the offending vehicle returned to the scene and was charged as a result of their driving actions.

*Police attended to a local business for a shoplifting complaint. The suspect had left the business but police were able to identify the suspect through surveillance equipment and they were subsequently charged as a result.

*Police responded to a complaint of a young person who was committing an indecent act in a residential area. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. The matter is still under investigation.

*Police attended to a fight in a residential area, where a number of people were having a dispute. The conflict was defused by police and the individuals dispersed.

*On July 6, police attended to a hit and run accident. Investigation revealed that a parked truck was struck during the previous night. The matter is still under investigation.

*Police attended River Park to remove an unauthorized person. The person was residing in the closed park and was removed. No charges were laid.

*Police received a report of a stolen motor vehicle from the downtown area. The stolen vehicle is still missing and the matter is under investigation.

*During the afternoon of July 6, a 42-year-old female was arrested and charged with break and enter and committing an assault. The subject was charged and released for court later this month.

*A local restaurant reported that a patron left without paying their bill. The suspect was located and charged.

*Just before midnight on July 6, police responded to a single vehicle accident in the downtown area. The driver of the vehicle, who received minor injuries, was charged with impaired driving and refusing a breathalyzer test.

*On July 4, police attended to a family dispute that resulted in an assault allegation. The dispute was resolved and the allegation is still under investigation.

*Police attended a local business to deal with a shoplifter. The suspect was arrested and held in custody until his court appearance the following day.

*Police attended to a report of a hit and run. The matter is still being investigated by police.

*A young person reported that two older youths had stolen money from him. After investigation the money was recovered and no charges were laid.

*The Weyburn Police Service responded to 112 calls for service during this reporting period.

*The Weyburn Police Service has received and continues to receive a number of complaints of individuals soliciting money from people fraudulently. Solicitations are usually done over the computer or phone and the suspects have a number of different methods and stories to convince people to give them money. Police are encouraging people to not be conned into giving money, personal information or banking information to unknown individuals over the phone or computer.
