Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of January 2 to 9:
*On January 9, police were called to a motor vehicle accident on Railway Avenue where a vehicle had struck a fire hydrant. Road conditions were a factor in the accident and no injuries were reported.
*On January 8, police attended a local bar to assist EMS; as a result, two Weyburn males were arrested and charged with public intoxication.
*On January 7, police were called to investigate a complaint of bullying. This matter is under investigation.
*Police were called to investigate a motor vehicle accident at Government Road and Souris Avenue. There were no injuries reported and road conditions were a factor in the accident.
*Police arrested and charged two local young persons with possessing small amounts of marijuana. Both will be appearing in court this February.
*On January 6, police were called to investigate a hit and run accident, damage was minor and the matter is under investigation
*On January 5, police were called to investigate a complaint of harassment via posts being made on an online Facebook page. The matter was resolved without further incident.
*Police were called to a child custody dispute, the matter was resolved without incident and parties were advised to see their lawyers.
*On January 3, police were called to investigate a complaint of a broken window on a school bus at St. Michael's School. The matter is currently under investigation.
*On January 2, police were called to a local apartment building to investigate possible narcotics usage. The matter is under investigation.
*Several tickets were issued to drivers for talking or texting on their cell phones or electronic devices during this reporting period. Motorists are reminded that the use of electronic devices while driving is prohibited.
With the recent change in temperature and heavy snowfall, police want to remind drivers to clear and scrape all vehicle windows and lights before driving. Tickets will be issued to those who drive with obstructed views.
*During this reporting period, Weyburn Police Service members answered 87 calls for service, many of them were alcohol related.
