Regina man facing 30+ charges after string of robberies in August

Regina police have arrested one individual linked to seven recent robberies and three break-and-enters

After multiple investigations from several units at the Regina Police Service, officers have arrested one man in connection with a string of robberies in August.

REGINA — A Regina man is facing a total of 39 criminal charges after being linked to a string of robberies, break-and-enters and an auto theft that took place during the month of August.

Multiple investigations by Regina police led to the arrest of Austin Hastings, 23, of Regina on Aug, 20. 

Hastings has been identified in seven separate reported robberies of Regina businesses, beginning on Aug. 6 and continuing through to Aug. 19.

Similarities at each scene had led police to believe that the crimes were related, said a press release. 

Investigation led officers to identify Hastings as the main suspect, while also linking him to three recent break-and-enter incidents and a theft of auto.

Hastings has been charged with:

  • nine counts of robbery;
  • nine counts of disguise with intent;
  • twelve counts of breach of probation;
  • three counts of use of an imitation firearm in the commission of an indictable offence;
  • break and enter to commit an indictable offence;
  • two counts of break and enter and committing an indictable offence;
  • assault with a weapon;
  • theft under $5,000;
  • and theft of a motor vehicle.

Hastings made his first appearance in provincial court this morning.
