Weyburn Comp extra-curricular awards presented to students

The Weyburn Comprehensive School's extra-curricular awards, covering music, drama, the SRC and athletics, were presented to students.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Comprehensive School's extra-curricular awards, covering music, drama, the SRC and athletics, were presented to students on June 13 in the Cugnet Centre.

The George Pierce Spirit of Youth Award was presented to Dali Mlilo, and the Performing Arts Award went to Owen Burdan. The Bethel Award was presented to Bree Hagen.

For the senior SRC, Camryn Greve received the “Heart of the SRC” award, and Rylan Cancade received the Spirit Award. The advisors award went to Nia Cleasby for senior SRC.

For the junior SRC, Beth Hamel was given the “Leading the Leaders” award, and June Bloor won the advisors award.

The senior gavels was presented to the SRC co-chairs, Erika Sinn and Gracyn Knipfel.

For the junior musical-drama, Keira Mahnke and Peyton Lokken were presented with a trophy and medal, and Camden Husband and Cara Johnson won the advisors awards, while Carlee Wade won for the senior musical, and Kailyn McFadden won the advisors award.

The junior choral award went to Keira Mahnke, with the advisors award to Cara Johnson and Rayne Fellner; the jazz band award went to Darius Jones, with the advisors award going to Owen Burdan and Bianca Primero; and the RISE Choir award went to Dali Mlilo, with the advisors award going to Lindsay Van De Weyer and Liam Evans.

In athletics, the following awards were presented.

The Male Athlete of the Year is Mitchell Cherpin, and the Female Athlete of the Year is Bree Hagen.

The trophy and medal for wrestling went to Cale Mohan.

Camden Husband won the award for junior cross-country, and Autumn Vilcu won for senior cross-country. The coach’s award for junior cross-country went to Rae-Lynn McKnight and Rylie Gervais, and for senior cross-country went to Calder McMillan.

For senior girls soccer, Sierra Chief won the award, while the coach’s award went to Katryna McKinney.

In junior varsity football, the medal went to Spencer Bell, and for senior football, to Conner Kerr. The coach’s award for junior football went to James Ashworth and Nolan Uhren, and the award for senior football to Kaleb Berg and Owen Istace.

In senior golf, Brandon Morrice was presented with a trophy and medal, and the coach’s award went to Josh Wiens.

In junior girls volleyball “A”, Zoe Kerr won the trophy and medal, and the coach’s award went to Keira Mahnke; the junior girls coach’s award went to Lydia Bell and Yuna Lee; for intermediate girls volleyball, Whitney Lanz-McIntyre won the trophy and medal, with the coach’s award going to Tessa Wolstenholme and Falon Jordans, and for senior girls volleyball, Ella Morken, won the trophy and medal, with the coach’s award going to Nicole Malana and Amryn King.

In junior boys volleyball, Zach Balog was presented with the trophy and medal, and the coach’s award to Chris Dayaan; for intermediate boys volleyball, Emmanuel Pallarca won the trophy and medal, and the coach’s award to Eli Hansen; and in senior boys volleyball, Mitchell Cherpin won the top award, with the coach’s award going to Tommy Wagner.

In curling, the junior boys winner was Keaton Walter, with the coach’s award going to Brady Tosczak and Cashton Archibald; the senior girls winner was Kristin Loroff, with the coach’s award going to Reegan Chicoine; and for senior boys, Karter Haupstein, and the coach’s award going to Jyler Goebel.

In girls basketball, Assiya Benabdallah won for junior girls ‘A’, with the coach’s award going to Cara Johnson; and Bree Hagen won for senior girls, with the coach’s award to Carlee Wade.

In boys basketball, Mac Malana won for junior boys ‘A’, and the coach’s award to Wyatt Kot; Tace Odima won for junior boys freshmen, and the coach’s award to Logan Ashworth; Jarret Hayward won for intermediate boys, and the coach’s award to James Ashworth; and Mitchell Cherpin won for senior boys, with the coach’s award going to Thomas Olson and Conner Kerr.

In badminton, Mac Malana won for the junior category, with the coach’s award going to Carter Downing; and Anna Tronson for the senior category, with the coach’s award going to Marek Keslering and Mizzi Macute.

The junior track medal and trophy went to Camden Husband, and the senior track medal and trophy to Chace Kradovill.

Medals for track were won by Dennis Linnen, Noah Kopec, Amryn King, Wylie Kopec, Zoe Kerr, Peyton Lokken, Alex Labrecque, Rylie Gervais, Sophie Pollock and Cody Goski.
