Weyburn under new water advisory

The City of Weyburn is once again under a precautionary boil water advisory.

The City of Weyburn is once again under a precautionary boil water advisory. The advisory includes all customers that receive water from the City of Weyburn, including the Weyburn Utility Board, the Hamlet of North Weyburn, the Village of McTaggert, and Nickle Lake Regional Park. The advisory began on Feb. 26, after some water samples tested positive for low levels of cryptosporidium and giardia. Currently, City officials feel the risk to public health is low, but it is best to proceed with caution.

The Ministry of the Environment is recommending that all drinking water used for consumption be boiled for at least one minute. This includes water used for washing vegetables, brushing teeth, and for drinking.

It is unknown when the advisory will be lifted, but the City will continue to test and monitor the water until they are satisfied that there is no potential for concern.
