After winning the Kelly Dmyterko Memorial Tournament in 2010 and 2011 and losing the A final last year, the Estevan Apex Bruins fell short of those heights this time around.

The midget AA club posted a 1-2 record at the Prince Albert tournament on the weekend, finishing third in their pool and missing the playoffs.

In their first game on Friday night, the Bruins fell 6-2 to the Winnipeg Warriors.

The Bruins got goals from Kyle Salaway and Dylan Lay in a span of 54 seconds midway through the second period to tie the game 2-2, but Winnipeg would score four unanswered goals from there.

The Warriors got goals from Riley Gibbons and Keaton Ostir in the first period. Jordan Ivanyshyn and Nicolas Burmey scored in the second, while Burmey and Shanan McFadden added markers in the third.

Tanner Tytlandsvik was in goal for Estevan.

The Bruins lost again Saturday morning, falling 5-2 to the Martensville Marauders.

Dawson Rowley scored first for Martensville in the first period.

Estevan got a goal from Tyler Hengen in the second period, but Chance Desmarais and another player not listed on the game sheet countered for the Marauders to put them ahead 3-1 after 40 minutes.

Desmarais scored again less than five minutes into the third, and while Lay got the Bruins within two again, a goal by Damien Daniels with 48 seconds left sealed the win for Martensville.

Landon Audet was between the pipes for the Bruins.

Estevan got their lone win in their final game on Saturday afternoon, beating the Saskatoon Steel 5-1.

Saskatoon's Austin MacDonald tied the game 1-1 midway through the second period, but the Bruins fired back with four unanswered goals.
Hengen (2), Lay, Colton Gingras and Cole Piche scored for the Bruins, and Tytlandsvik earned the win in goal.

The Bruins' next league action is Saturday when they visit the Moose Jaw Warriors.
