Bruins lose in Melfort

The Bruins' three-in-three weekend trip got off to a bad start tonight with a 5-2 loss to the Melfort Mustangs. Connor Bradshaw scored twice and Jarett Zentner had a three-point night to lead the lowly Mustangs to a 5-2 win on home ice.

Dylan Smith and Tyler Paslawski scored in the first period for the Bruins as they played to a 2-2 tie after the first 20 minutes, but Melfort would score three unanswered goals - two in the third - to secure the win.

Tyler Ross made 34 saves in his Bruins debut as Estevan was outshot handily, 39-23.

Michael Hengen (healthy scratch) and Dylan Schellenberg (medical) both returned to the lineup while Tanner Froese and Matt Brykaliuk did not play.

The Bruins are back at it tomorrow in Nipawin and Sunday in Humboldt.
