The Estevan Power Dodge Chargers have become the latest local team to blaze a trail to a league final this season.
The bantam A Chargers won their semifinal series against the Diefenbaker Thunder by a total score of 5-2 on the weekend.
By winning the two-game, total-goal series, the Chargers advance to the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League final, where they will face the second-place Springside Parkland Lions. That series begins tonight.
The Chargers, who finished first in the regular season, won Game 1 of the Diefenbaker series 4-0 on Thursday at the Civic Auditorium.
The Thunder rebounded with a 2-1 win in Game 2 in Beechy on Sunday, but it was not enough to overcome the Chargers' lead.
On Thursday, the Chargers got three goals in the second period to break the game open.
Ashton Magotiaux opened the scoring for the home side less than three minutes into the game.
Mariah McKersie would make it 2-0 at 2:09 of the second, followed by a Brooklyn Dukart goal 65 seconds later.
Bailey Pierson capped off the win with the team's fourth goal midway through the second period. On Sunday, Abby Ridgewell got Diefenbaker on the board first, scoring the only goal of the opening period at 13:15.
Ridgewell's second of the game with less than five minutes left in the second gave the Thunder a two-goal lead.
Dukart would narrow the gap with Estevan's first goal of the game at 5:19 of the third. Shots on goal were 35-16 for the Chargers. Tamara Irwin was in goal for Estevan.
