Estevan teams have great starts at baseball provincials in the Energy City

Estevan teams went 3-0 at provincial tournaments happening in the city.

ESTEVAN - The two Estevan teams competing at provincial tournaments in the Energy City had a great start to their respective tournaments.

The Estevan U11 AA Brewers won both of their games Aug. 13 at the U11 AA Tier 4 tournament. They opened the tournament with a 10-0 romp over the Weyburn Beavers. Then they routed the Saskatoon Blue Jay Knockouts 14-1.

Games at the tournament will continue Aug. 14. The U11 Brewers won’t play again until Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. in one of the tournament’s semifinal games.

The U11 Brewers entry is the team that competed in the Regina Baseball League this year.

Meanwhile, the U15 AA Brewers, comprised of players from Estevan’s house league teams, opened their tournament with a 13-2 triumph over the Saskatoon Cardinals on Aug. 13.  

The U15 Brewers will play again at noon on Aug. 14 against the Canora Reds.

Playoffs for the U15 division will be on Aug. 15.

Both tournaments are being played at Mel Murray Cactus Park.
