Falcons football season underway

The Weyburn Bantam Youngfellow Falcons have started their season. The Weyburn Youngfellows has become the official sponsor of the Weyburn Minor Football Bantam age group. With the new sponsor also came a new name and new colored jerseys.

Head coach Ken Kot has returned with Corey Morrisette as offenisve coach. Dave Geiger has joined as line coach with his son Nathan Geiger helping the defensive side and Murry Wright will be the new defensive co-odinator. Steve Debienne is the team trainer again but has had special teams added to his list of jobs. Ritchie Roy is returning to help coach and will help with the offensive line. The new team manager, filling the role of one the most thankless jobs, is Laura Morrisette.

The bantam team has about 36 kids playing this season, ranging in age from 13 to15.

"We are looking forward to our season and hope to improve on our game," said Ken Kot. "Last year it was the first time our Bantams made the playoffs, and we hope to make it there again."

The Bantam Falcons will practice four nights per week and play one game on the weekend. Their first home game will be played at 3:00 p.m. on August 18 at Darold Kot Field. Please feel free to come out and support Weyburn Minor Football teams.
