Novice Cougar home opener keeps fans on edge of their seats

This year is a reunion year for some of the veteran novice players. They're happy to be reunited with their old teammates and excited to play with new ones.

This year is a reunion year for some of the veteran novice players. They're happy to be reunited with their old teammates and excited to play with new ones. The energy was off the wall in the dressing room, all of them wound up to play their first game of the season in their hometown rink. This year's squad consists of: head coach Lloyd Bendtsen, Ass't. coach Troy Turner with other numerous helpers in the wings, manager Tammie Riddell. The novice Cougar rosters is: #1 Colby Cuddington, #2 Colby Kyle, #3 Madison Magotiaux, #4 Drayden Arndt, #5 Gracie Sanders, #6 Cooper Humphries, #7 Deagan Galbraith, #8 Coty Hofos, #9 Taryn Cappo, #11 Krimson Standingready, #12 Cade Bendtsen, #13 Kaysha Turner, #14 Nate Robertson, #16 Adrien Riddell, #20 Zane Winter, #49 Hayden McArthur.

Their opponents on this gorgeous Saturday hailed from Alameda. Our refs for the game were Ashton Magotiaux and Riley McCrimmon.

Alameda would start the game off with a quick goal, sneaking one past our goalie, #30 Zane Winter. He got a lot action this game and handled It like a pro. The kids were skating hard, passing well and taking shots on their opponent's goalie who would also get quite a bit of action all game. It was intense game from start to finish keeping our spectators enthralled for the entire game. There was quick and sneaky, slow and rollie and high or low goals from both teams. Both goalies saw a little bit of everything from the shooters and kept them on their toes. In the end Alameda would come away with the win, but to give you a little peek at what kept us on the edge, both teams would go back and forth in the third period, scoring 7 goals apiece.

Goal scorers for the Cougars were #1, #7, #12, #13 and #16, with assists from other players too numerous to list.

Great job on your first game. Next game is Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. at the Carlyle Sports Arena.
