The Carlyle Novice Cougars play-off run has come to an end. The 8 & under team made it through the first round of playoffs, taking the series to three games, winning against the Redvers Rockets 1. In the first game on March 1st in Redvers, our Cougars came out slow, losing 5-9. Logan Romaniuk played net, and while the whole team tried their best they couldn't out-score the Rockets. Goals were scored by Colby Cuddington and Cooper Humphries, with assists to Carson Dangstorp and Mitch Himmelspach.

When Redvers came to town for the second game on Mar. 5, it was a different story. The Cougars came out strong and matched Redvers shot-for-shot. Logan was between the posts again. This was a battle of the goalies, ending in a 5-4 win for Carlyle. It was a fast-paced, exciting battle. Tyrell Dixon and Colby scored the goals, with Drayden Arndt, Kaysha Turner and Tyrell earning assists.

On Mar. 6 the final game of the series was played in Redvers. Again, Logan played goal, and the action was non-stop. Both teams put in a huge effort, as the coach put it "skating their butts off!" Again Carlyle was victorious with a 5-4 win. Cooper Humphries scored the winning goal. Cadence Chapman and Colby were the other goal-scorers, with Krimson Standingready and Colby also earning assists.

Advancing into the second round play-off series found Carlyle challenging the Carnduff Devils. The first game was played on Mar. 8, in Carnduff. While playing valiantly and with huge effort, Carlyle just couldn't get past the Devils. In a high-scoring 8-12 loss, Drayden scored his first play-off goal. It rang both posts loudly before whizzing past the Carnduff net-minder! Both Krimson and Colby scored multiple goals that night. Way to go!

On Sunday, Mar. 10 Carnduff came to town for the second play-off game. Unfortunately our Cougars seemed tired. They couldn't muster any offense resulting in a play-off ending 12-6 loss. There were lots of penalties on both sides as the intensity was amazing! Colby and Cadence scored our goals, with assists to Drayden and Tyrell.

This was our family's first year in minor hockey & it has been an awesome experience! It is very impressive to see how much these kids have improved over the year. And though our play-off run is over, we are off to Calgary for an 8 & under tournament this weekend, Mar. 15 to 17. This is a great opportunity for the players, and everyone is quite excited about our season ending trip.
