On February 19, the Weyburn Petro Bakken AA Midget Wings hosted the Garrett Dempsey Benefit Game at Crescent Point Place. Turnout for the game was high with fans and friends traveling from surrounding communities to lend their encouragement and support to Garrett and his family. This was truly a group effort as atom AA, bantam AA, and pee wee AA teams donated gate admissions and 50/50 to the benefit. Local businesses generously donated items to the silent auction held during the game and also to the live auction held following the game. Thomas Carleton and Lane Harbor represented the Weyburn Red Wing organization in presenting Garrett with a team jersey. Red Wings also donated their 50/50 earnings from their game held on February 7.

The Wings would like to take this opportunity to thank the communities of Weyburn, Stoughton and Estevan for the tremendous support we received for the Garrett Dempsey Benefit Game. We were overwhelmed by the generosity witnessed throughout the day. Once again, the hockey community stepped up and demonstrated clearly that hockey is a family. Because of this we were able to offer support to an inspiring young man and his family. Thank you to all who attended and to all who gave of their time and talents to make the day a resounding success.
