PureChem Cougars’ season comes to a close

The Carlyle PureChem Cougars put up a battle throughout the season, able to make their way into the final seed of Big Six Playoff action. They came up against the tough, seeded as first place after the regular season, Carnduff Red Devils.

            The Carlyle PureChem Cougars put up a battle throughout the season, able to make their way into the final seed of Big Six Playoff action. They came up against the tough, seeded as first place after the regular season, Carnduff Red Devils.

            Although the PureChem Cougars had lost the first game of the series against them, they were hoping to take the Red Devils to three, but lost out in a tough fought 1-4 game.

            Carlyle’s single goal was posted by Brett Turgeon off an assist from Kelly Currie in the third.

            Elsewhere in the league the Redvers Rockets took two games to beat the Huskies, Bienfait earned two wins over the Midale Mustangs, and the returning champions – Wawota Flyers – beat out the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings to reach the semifinals.

            The Flyers will now take on the Red Devils in a best of 5 match-up, while the Redvers Rockets will battle the Bienfait Coalers.

            Redvers hosted Bienfait on Friday, Feb. 23, which saw an intense game erupt with a 6-4 win for the Redvers Rockets.

            Future games are scheduled for Friday, March 2, in Bienfait and Sunday, March 4, in Redvers.

            Carnduff visited Wawota on Sunday, Feb. 25, where the home team put up a fight, but the Red Devils earned a 4-0 win.

            Brady Gaudet of Redvers leads with 9 points; Wyatt Garagan of Bienfait and Drew Hoff of Redvers each have 8 points; while Dylan Herzberg of Bienfait, Matt Audette of Carnduff, and Trevor Geiger of Carnduff have 7 points each.

            Adrian Rubeniuk of Carnduff is sitting with a shutout for a Goals Allowed Average of 0; Cody Dumaine of Carnduff has two games under his belt and a GAA of 1.50; and Shane Marsh of Redvers has a two game best of 2.50 GAA.
