Red Wings win weekend games

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings had two home games this weekend and were desperatly needing a win as they were on a three-game losing streak. Fortunately they earned not one, but two wins this weekend.

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings had two home games this weekend and were desperatly needing a win as they were on a three-game losing streak. Fortunately they earned not one, but two wins this weekend.

Friday's game against the Melville Millionaires ended up being a 2-1 shootout victory. Ben Hiltz scored the Red Wings goal in regulation play and Quinton Hill was the only goal scorer in the shootout.

Saturday's game saw Joseph Young get his first SJHL career shut out as the Wings beat the Yorkton Terriers 2-0. Goal scorers for the Wings were Liam Rutten and Rhett Frey. 

The Red Wings next game is on Thursday in Humboldt against the Bronocs. The Wings will be without Anthony Chambers on the roster as they announced earlier today that they had traded Chambers to the Leamington Flyers of the GOJHL for a Player Development Fee.
