Welcome back to another curling season. The atmosphere is beginning to stir and preparations are underway at the Assiniboia Curling Club, with the new season set to begin on Monday, November 4.

The Assiniboia Curling Club Seasonal Sign-up night will be held on Wednesday, October 30 from 7-9 p.m. Fees have remained the same as last year, with new curlers to the club receiving a half-price break for the coming year. If any curlers don’t have teams to play on, the club will do their best to find a team, or at least put their names on the spare list when the rinks need a pick-up.

The Assiniboia Curling Club offers a variety of leagues for everyone to participate in. There’s a Travelling Super League on Mondays for the competitive nature. There’s an afternoon Co-ed League on Mondays and Wednesdays – curlers can sign up for only one day if desired. On Tuesday evenings, the Assiniboia Curling Club co-ordinates a Non-Competitive Recreational League. And on Thursday nights, the club offers a Competitive Recreational League. The club is also going to try a Tuesday a.m. (10-12 p.m.) Two-person Stick League, where teams are made up of two curlers with one from each end. The curlers will take turns throwing all six rocks from their end using a curling stick. Sweeping is only allowed from the hogline in. There is some very active school curling and a full slate of bonspiels to take part in over the winter. Later on, a learn to curl program for K-Grade 3 children will be offered.

On Saturday, November 16 a Junior Saskatchewan Curling Association Clinic will be held for those 10 years and up from 10-2 p.m. Watch for further details. If there are any questions, do not hesitate to give the office a call at 306-642-5115.
