Weyburn senior girls have strong start to volleyball season

This was the second volleyball tournament in a row where the Eagles senior girls won first place
WEYBURN - The Weyburn Comp Eagles intermediate and senior girls volleyball teams hosted a tournament at the Eagles gym on Friday and Saturday.

The senior girls finished first and the intermediate girls finished sixth. This is the second tournament in a row where the Eagles senior girls won first place.

“The season has been good so far as we have a pretty strong team. I am looking forward to where we can take this,” said Jamie Labbie, Grade 12 middle blocker with the senior girls team.

“My favourite thing about playing with the Eagles is that we all get along as a team and we can work together to get the job done.”

“I think that the team has been doing very good. Our energy is always up and we are really good at working together. We have not really lost any games so far, so that is really good on our side,” said Troy Dickie, Grade 12 libero with the senior girls.

“I really like the people (on the team). It is really nice when you can play on a team, with people that you enjoy and can laugh with. I just love playing with a good group of girls, and nice coaches,” said Dickie. “We are all super close, which I think is very special. I will look to anyone on the team (for support).”

“We have worked together really well and have won lots of games. We are playing well together and everything is going great so far,” said Ella Morken, Grade 10 right sider for the senior girls.

“We are such a close group of girls, and we have all known each other for a couple of years now. We are just there, when anyone needs someone.”
