Weyburn athletes honoured at Gymnastics Club awards night

WEYBURN - The Weyburn Gymnastics Club held an awards night on June 25, to mark the end of the regular season.

Sophie Pollock won the 2021-22 Most Sportsmanlike Award. This award went to an athlete who is kind and compassionate, always cheering on their teammates in their successes and pumping them up when they are feeling low.

She is happy, funny, spunky, and positive at practices and competitions, and just a lot of fun to be around. It’s easy to feel happy around this athlete when they is such a good role model in and out of the gym.

Avery Fleck won the 2021-22 Most Outstanding Award. This season’s most outstanding athlete went to someone who started the season off with some setbacks because of injuries.

She was unable to do certain skills and would often have to leave early. Despite that, she continued to do as much as she could and excelled in her skills and level this season. This athlete has also been doing so well working on many above level skills.

Hannah Furgason and Eliza Gall both won the 2021-22 Most Improved Award.

Hannah is a hard worker, even though they love to chat. She has shown so much improvement in strength, power and shaping in the past few years making her skills beautiful and effortless to watch.

Hannah is also positive, loves to have fun and laughs at everything, especially themselves when they make mistakes.

Eliza has been working really hard to improve her skills so she can advance to the next level. She is competitive, fun, and has shown awesome improvements in her skills, as well as her work ethic, focus and independence.

The award went to someone who has worked hard to make changes to her mind and body.
