Weyburn Gold Wings fall to Saskatoon Stars, Wildcats

Weyburn travelled to Swift Current for a Sunday game

WEYBURN – The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Gold Wings were blanked by the Saskatoon Stars 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at Crescent Point Place, and then paid a visit to Swift Current on Sunday afternoon where they lost 6-2 to the Wildcats in midget girls hockey action.

The two Weyburn goals in Sunday's game came from Hadley Revenko, unassisted, who scored short-handed in the first period, and Paisley Arntsen in the second period, assisted by Rilynn Dobson and Julianne Girardin on the powerplay.

Lexi Peace was in net for the Gold Wings, saving 38 of 44 shots that came her way.

In the game on Saturday, the Stars scored twice in the first period, then added three more unanswered goals in the second period, with no scoring in the third frame.

Hailey Sibbald started out in net for Weyburn, but a goaltender change was made partway through the second period as Lexi Peace went in.

Sibbald saved 15 of 20 shots, while Peace saved all 19 shots that she faced.

Coming up for the Gold Wings is a game versus the Regina Rebels in Regina on Feb. 2 at 8 p.m., and then the Notre Dame Hounds will visit Weyburn on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. They will also host Swift Current on Friday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
